Large CMOS Sensor.
Canon’s new CMOS sensor with high-speed 8-channel reading technology delivers exceptional image quality with low noise and an extremely high S/N ratio. Its large 28.7 x 19.1mm size realizes an effective angle of view that’s just 1.3 times the focal length indicated on Canon EF lenses.
Digic II Imaging Engine.
Compatible with DDR-SDRAM, Canon’s newly developed, state-of-the-art DIGIC II imaging engine achieves continuous shooting of 8.2 megapixel images at 8.5 fps and employs original Canon algorithms to accurately convert signals into crisp, high-resolution images with natural color and rich gradation.
8.5 fps continuous shooting with up to 40 images per burst.
The EOS-1D Mark II is the world’s fastest digital AF-SLR camera (as of January, 2004). Its record-breaking speed is achieved even in the Large JPEG setting (approx. 3,504 x 2,336 pixels), and 8.5 fps are maintained during max. bursts of 40 shots (20 shots in RAW format) whether recording in the One-Shot AF or AI Servo AF mode.
E-TTL II Auto flash.
Canon’s advanced Evaluative Through-The-Lens (E-TTL) Autoflash system offers evaluative metering as well as new averaged metering, which employs a new recording algorithm to achieve more stable control and help prevent underexposure and overexposure even when the subject changes location.
White balance compensation.
New WB Compensation allows separate or combined adjustment of blue/amber and magenta/green biases in ±9 steps, providing the same effect as using light-balancing (LB) and color-correction (CC) filters, respectively. In fact, 360 combinations of 36 (4 colors with 9 steps each) built-in digital color filters are possible.
Customizeable color matrix.
Seven Color Matrix settings are provided for JPEG and RAW images, allowing easy adjustment of color space, color saturation and color tone. The settings include five convenient factory presets and two customizable settings, with five-level adjustment, that can be saved for future use.
ISO Speed (100-1600)
ISO speeds are selectable in 1/3 increments and may be set as low as 50 or as high as 3200 through the ISO extension menu. This is the widest ISO speed range of any EOS digital camera.
High reliability and rigidity.
The highly reliable EOS-1D Mark II features rigid magnesium alloy in the chassis and external covers that also contributes to electromagnetic shielding, a durable finish and extremely low body weight. At 200,000 shutter cycles, shutter durability is 30% higher than in the EOS-1D and EOS-1Ds.
Software and accessories.
Viewer Utility for faster image preview, and Digital Photo Professional for high-speed processing, offer easier operability and handling of RAW images. With the inclusion of such accessories and a variety of EF lenses, Canon delivers total digital imaging solutions.
